Records include case files beginning in 1962, the formation of the local chapter and cases related to the Bronson Park nativity scene, the Bloomingdale religious picture case and many articles and notes about these cases. Other cases include police liasons in public schools, dress code issues, separation of church and state within the public schools, Western Michigan University related cases, local school cases, and other types of first amendment rights cases. Records also include personal correspondence between ACLU members and the local community: Ira Glasser, Ernest Mazey, Milton Marovich, Phil Denenfeld, Paul Denenfeld, and Bruce Stein. Notes and minutes from local ACLU meetings. Pamphlets, readings, and memos from both the State and National chapters of the ACLU are also included.
